Claims and paragraphs
A thesis should make a specific, arguable claim that the essay can actually prove. Each body paragraph should introduce one focused point, support it with evidence, and explain how that evidence advances the main claim.
- Name the subject clearly.
- Make a claim that can be supported with reasons and evidence.
- Use topic sentences to control paragraph focus.
