Build the structure first
Before drafting, decide what each major section of the essay needs to accomplish. A clear outline shows the order of ideas, the evidence attached to each point, and the reason each paragraph belongs.
- Write the working thesis at the top of the outline.
- Give each body paragraph one job.
- Place source material where it supports a specific claim.
